========================================== = The Historical Society of Islip Hamlet = ========================================== - PLANNED EVENTS - Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010 ======================== L.I. Ruins will present a program on Central Islip's former State Hospital. The grounds are an amazing place to find hidden ruins. Though the facility closed in 1996, undergoing redevelopment and demolition (home of the L.I. Ducks), there are still a lot of historic holdouts. The program will be held at the Islip Public Library, 71 Monell Avenue, starting at 7:00 p.m. This program is free and open to the public. For more info, please call: 631/245-0675. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010 ====================== Author/historian Monica Randall will present a program on Phantoms of the Hudson. Some say that many of the stately mansions along the Hudson River are haunted by ghosts. Come join us as Ms. Randall explores the mystery of 28 estates, telling fascinating stories of the people who lived in these homes and recapturing a bygone era. The program will be held at the Islip Public Library, 71 Monell Avenue, starting at 7:00 p.m. This program is free and open to the public. For more info, call 631/245-0675. Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010 ==================== The society will host its 17th annual Holiday House Tour.
