Aquaculture in the Great South Bay,
The Rise and Fall of the Blue Point Oyster
Presented by Matt Welling
Matt Welling is a Bay Shore native who has lived all over the world sailing in the America's Cup.  He and his wife, Liz, moved back to Long Island and started Lucky 13 Oysters, which grows oysters, hard clams and scallops.

On Wednesday, May 6th, 2015, At the Islip Public Library, Matt spoke about his aquaculture activities on the Great South Bay.  He discussed the rich history of the Blue Point Oyster on the bay and all that's involved with modern shellfish farming techniques.

Shellfish farming, it is believed, will help restore our bay's ecosystem to its once world famous status.
