Islip's Bay Heritage
Presentation and Panel Discussion
On Sept. 13th, the Society hosted a panel of lifelong Bay men and women who have worked and lived on the Great South Bay.  The program was moderated by society member Leslie Schwan who comes from a 3rd generation Bay family.

Ken Tooker discussed the many years of clamming; Frank Slope discussed commercial fishing; Pete Johnston talked about his life as a fisherman, clammer and duck hunter; Lesley Clock's family has owned a home on Captree Island for several generations; and Emmett O'Hara spoke about raising oysters for sale to local restaurants.  There were 135 people in attendance.  You can view the program video on this page.
